Costituisce l’unica torre di epoca medievale nell’ambito del circuito murario del V sec.d.C. di forma trapezoidale, essa presenta una tecnica costruttiva caratterizzata da blocchetti di calcare disposti in filari orizzontali, sporadicamente frammisti a mattoni; di epoca recente deve essere invece considerata la parete prospiciente il camminamento di ronda, in origine mancante. Le finestre originarie, in parte tamponate, sono di forma rettangolare e in alcuni casi fornite di archi di scarico. La datazione della torre, coeva alla prima fase del castello, può risalire alla fine del X sec.   

The medieval tower along the walls

It is the only tower belonging to the medieval age of the 5th cent. A.D. circuit wall it has a trapezoidal shape and it shows a building technique based on small limestone blocks placed in a horizontal row mixed with bricks here and there. The wall, overlooking the rampant walk, must belong perhaps to a recent date and originally it was missing. The original windows have a rectangular shape; some of them are walled up and have an arch on. The date of the tower, contemporary with the first phase of the castle, may go back to the end of the 10th cent.
