La piccola chiesa, voluta da Pio VI quale parrocchia per la crescente popolazione della Marina, venne completata nel 1783 e dedicata, l’anno dopo, a S. Pio V. Ubicata a destra della Strada Pia, di fronte alle scomparse Case Pellegrini (abitazioni popolari per i pescatori, volute sempre da Pio VI), la chiesa venne distrutta dai bombardamenti dell’ultima guerra; fra i suoi scarsi resti, oggi in stato di abbandono, si distinguono solo le modanature architettoniche dell’ingresso.    

Church of S. Maria di Porto Salvo

The small parish church was built under pope Pius VI for the growing population of La Marina; it was completed in 1783 and dedicated to St. Pius V the following year. It was located on the right of Strada Pia, opposite Case Pellegrini (some popular houses built under Pius VI for the fishers of the town and demolished some time ago), the church was bombed and destroyed during the last world war; today there are only a few remains as the building hall mouldings which are in a state of neglect.
