Il nome della via ricorda la presenza, ad est, dei perduti edifici (granai e abitazioni) di proprietà del primo direttore della Bonifica Pontina, Gaetano Rappini. Il complesso abitativo che sorge ai lati della strada costituisce l’ultimo esempio di edilizia storica popolare del Borgo Pio, e nacque da ristrutturazioni del 1843-46 eseguite per le necessità delle famiglie dei pescatori. Precedente importante di tali complessi edilizi, realizzato invece alla fine del ‘700, furono le scomparse Case Pellegrini, poste di fronte alla chiesa di S.Maria di Porto Salvo.   

Vicolo Rappini

The road takes the name from the buildings (granaries and houses) disappeared today and placed on the east side; they belonged to Gaetano Rappini, the director of the Bonifica Pontina. The whole structure, on both sides of the road, is considered the last example of public historical housing in Borgo Pio. It came out from reconstructions carried out between 1843 and 1846 to be used to house the fishers and their families. The so called Case Pellegrini, opposite the church of St. Maria di Porto Salvo and disappeared today, have the same style and were built at the end of the 18th cent.
