Dietro ai box e ai magazzini posti nei cortili dei moderni fabbricati si può vedere un lungo muraglione in opera mista, che costituiva la parete di fondo dei magazzini posti sul molo rettilineo occidentale del porto romano; di essi esistono solo i grandi resti delle volte in opera cementizia, disposti davanti al muro. La collina di sabbia retrostante, denominata il Montuno e oggi adibita a parco pubblico, è probabilmente il risultato dello scavo che i Romani eseguirono per realizzare l’antico porto, attualmente quasi del tutto insabbiato.

Behind a row of boxes and fish store located inside the courtyard of modem buildings you can admire a long opus mixtum wall; it was the bottom wall of the storehouses built on the west rectilinear pier of the Roman port. As to these storehouses, today just some large ruins of the concrete vaults placed in front of the wall are left. The back sand hill, called Il Montuno, is a park today; it is probably the result of the excavation carried out by the Romans when they built the ancient port which is completely under the sand.
