All’interno di un edificio commerciale sono visitabili alcuni ambienti in reticolato, in origine appartenuti al basamento di una villa romana e identificabili come cisterne o magazzini. A sinistra, fondato su ambienti in opera incerta pertinenti ad una seconda villa romana, è visibile il Granaio Antonelli, costruito nel 1860-62 dall’omonima famiglia di possidenti. L’edificio rappresenta l’ultimo esempio conservato di quelle strutture architettoniche adibite a magazzino, sorte e diffuse nel Borgo Pio a partire dalla fine del ‘700, al servizio dell’economia agricolo-industriale prodotta dalla bonifica delle Paludi Pontine.

Inside a trade show room can be seen some rooms with opus reticulatum which, originally, belonged to the basament of a Roman villa, perhaps they were cisterns or storehouses. On the left you can admire Granaio Antonelli, built in the years 1860-62 for the rich family bearing the same name; it is based on opus incertum rooms belonging to a second Roman villa. Granaio Antonelli is the last preserved example of these architectonic structures used as storehouses; their origin goes back to the end of the 18th cent. And they spread all over Borgo Pio to serve the industrial agricultural economy after the reclamation of the Pontine Marshes.
