In origine intitolata a S. Sebastiano Martire, fu la parrocchia medievale del borgo situato fuori le mura di Posterla. A questa fase appartiene forse l’edicola con affresco rappresentante Gesù Bambino benedicente, dietro l’altare maggiore. Nel 1723, sui resti dell’edificio medievale fu ricostruita la nuova chiesa, all’inizio dell’800 officiata dalla Confraternita dei Sacconi. Nel 1887 venne fondato da Agostino Antonelli, in memoria del padre, l’Orfanotrofio “Gregorio Antonelli”, con edificio annesso alla chiesa del Salvatore, restaurata per l’occasione.

It was the medieval parish church of the suburbs outside the walls of Posterula and originally it was dedicated to the martyr St. Sebastian. It may be that the shire behind the high altar, with the blessing Infant Jesus painted in fresco, belongs to the same period. In 1723 a new church was rebuilt on the ruins of the medieval building and the Sacconi Brotherhood served here at the beginnig of the 19th cent. in 1887 the Orphanage was established by Agostino Antonelli in memory of his father Gregorio, with a building adjoining the church of Salvatore which was restored for this event.
