Il grande basamento costruttivo della platea superiore si presenta formato, all’esterno, da 12 grandi e profondi ambienti coperti a volta. Essi sono collegati tra loro e con il corridoio interno da porte e sono conclusi, in facciata, mediante arcate a tutto sesto, a loro volta impostate su semplici cornici modanate e poggiate su massicci pilastri. Il grande basamento è eretto al di sopra di una più ampia terrazza di fondazione poggiata sulla roccia e in parte costruita in opera incerta.   

External arcade and the base terrace

The large substructural base of the upper plateau shows, from the outside, its 12 large and deep rooms covered with vaults. They are connected to each other and to the interior corridor through doors and, on the front side, they have round arches with simple mouldings on colossal pilasters. At the same time the large base was created above a larger foundation terrace which is set on the rocky mountain and part of it was built in opus incertum.
